Thanks for posting both sides to this interesting issue! I have always believed in the importance of establishing a professional business presence on the Internet and it is my belief that a person should have a website to assist with the process.
However, as you have pointed out and as Truby has just said, it all depends on the aims and goals of the marketer. To each his/her own.
